Hi! I’m Gary Munt, a Kent wedding photographer from Canterbury Kent.
I specialise in wedding photography within the UK and abroad. Capturing images that are truthful, beautiful, unobtrusive and infused with a touch of personality! I really love what I do and I spend a lot of time refining, perfecting and delivering on my promise to deliver quality images. It’s my passion. I love the unique style and atmosphere of every wedding and thrive upon capturing every special moment I see.
Getting the opportunity to photograph weddings is a truly unique experience. I enjoy working closely with each couple to ensure they too put a stamp on their wedding photography, and that the final images exceed their expectations.
What is your wedding photography style?
About 90% of my work is photojournalism, capturing all those special moments as they happen, with minimal intrusion. The other 10% is the more traditional wedding photography style – getting those must-have formal shots and bridal portraits that are great for sharing with family. I have a laid back approach and go with the flow of your day, people watching and enjoying every moment as I document the emotion, happiness and fun of your wedding day celebrations.
Can you travel?
Absolutely! Although a lot of my work is within the Kent area I photograph weddings throughout the UK and abroad. I have worked in both the USA and the Canary Islands.
Do we receive a mixture of colour and black and white images?
Much of my work is colour, however I sometimes believe some photos look better in black and white. I often shoot a photo specifically for black and white. The final choice though always lays with the client.
What equipment do you use?
I use a range of Nikon professional equipment including Nikon D800 cameras plus various Nikon lenses to make sure I get the right shot no matter what the circumstance. In addition I use various flashes and triggers to assist in delivering a quality product.
I understand that most couples like some form of group shots and I will always discuss your must-have images with your list prior to your wedding day. Some couples want to have fun shots with props and others prefer something more traditional.......the choice is yours! With these more formal shots I ask my couples to designate the grooms-men or best man to be in charge of organising the groups for photos. This keeps things flowing and speeds up the process. I highly recommend trying to keep it around ten or below.
Are the photographs copyrighted?
Yes, though you have full license to print and share as you please.
How many photographs am I likely to receive?
This very much depends on the day and how much coverage you’d like. However, you can expect between 200 and 300 photos all fully edited by myself and in my signature style. You’ll be able to get a good feel of my style across my website, in my blog and portfolio. Quality is my main objective and the photographs you’ll receive will be as perfect as possible!
Is a deposit required?
Yes. I take a £200 deposit to hold the required date; the final balance is not due until two weeks before your wedding day.
Do you create photo albums
Yes, I’m more than happy to create a professional wedding album for you, finished with high quality paper. I have samples that we can go through at any of our consultations. The purchase of a wedding album is an optional extra on top of your wedding photography package. I create them once you’ve received your photos so that you can choose which images you’d like to go in the album. See my Album page for more information.
How do you photograph in bad weather / winter weddings?
My equipment is weather sealed for bad weather, believe me, I have tested this out on a number or occasions! I’ve also trained and practised to use off camera lighting in any condition – a must in winter months, when it gets dark early.
